New Permanent Deacon Formation Cohort Forming

Permanent Deacons play an important role in the life of the Church in the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings.  Bishops Michael Warfel and Jeffrey Fleming, along with Deacon Pete Woelkers (Director of Deacons and Deacon Formation) are excited to announce the opening of a new Permanent Deacon Formation Cohort, which will begin Fall of 2023.

The first stage of forming this cohort is to assist men throughout the diocese in better understanding what the Permanent Diaconate is and the functions of an ordained deacon within the Catholic Church.  To help men in this initial step of discernment the diocese is excited to announce that there will be a Permanent Deacon Inquiry Weekend August 25-27, 2023 in Great Falls.  This weekend is intended for interested men and their wives. The weekend will describe the formation process and its requirements as well as introducing the concept of prayerful discernment.  Those interested in the Permanent Diaconate and their wives are invited to this free Inquiry Weekend (meals included).

For more information about the Permanent Diaconate visit the Permanent Deacon page of our website and watch the video series we have produced.  In these videos you hear from men who are either ordained deacons or are in formation for ordination.  Additional information about the Inquiry Weekend and the formation process is also available.  https://diocesegfb.org/home-page/vocations/permanent-deacons/deacon-formation/
