In light of the Feast of St. Patrick, this year coming on a Friday of Lent, and which many Catholics celebrate in the United States, Bishop Michael Warfel is dispensing the requirement to abstain from meat on March 17th of this year. However, in keeping with the spirit of Lent, for those who eat meat on March 17th, which is a day of abstinence in Lent, he is requiring that they abstain from meat on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
