In 2021, Pope Francis called a Universal Synod for a Synodal Church. His Holiness asked all dioceses and bishop’s conferences throughout the world to participate in the preparatory portion of this synod. In response to this call, the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings held a listening session and synthesized the contents of that meeting into a document which was submitted to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) on June 30, 2022. The Diocese of Great Falls-Billings’ document was submitted along with the other dioceses of Region XII (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Washington) to a regional writing team. The ten documents from the regional dioceses was then combined into a synthesis which was submitted to the USCCB on July 26, 2022. Both documents can be found below.
