About the Position

The Diocese of Great Falls–Billings is accepting applications for a Grounds Crew position at Mount Olivet Cemetery. This role supports the Church’s ministry of mercy by maintaining cemetery grounds with care, dignity, and respect for those who visit to pray, remember, and grieve. The Grounds Crew member assists with landscaping, grounds maintenance, and burial site preparation to ensure the cemetery remains a peaceful, safe, and welcoming place for families and the community.

Key Responsibilities

Grounds & Landscape Maintenance

• Mow, trim, edge, and maintain lawns and turf areas
• Plant, water, weed, mulch, and maintain flowerbeds and memorial gardens
• Prune and maintain trees, shrubs, and hedges
• Keep walkways, drives, and grounds clean and orderly
• Assist with irrigation checks and minor repairs
• Perform seasonal cleanup and snow removal

Burial & Interment Support

• Assist with preparing gravesites prior to services
• Support backfilling and restoration following burials
• Restore turf and surrounding areas with care and attention
• Maintain respectful conditions before, during, and after services

Equipment & Safety

• Safely operate mowers, trimmers, blowers, tractors, and other equipment
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on equipment
• Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment
• Identify and report safety hazards or equipment concerns

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• At least 6 months of landscaping or groundskeeping experience
• Valid Montana driver’s license
• Ability to pass a Diocesan Safe Environment background check
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work outdoors in all weather conditions

Work Environment

This position requires regular outdoor work and physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating equipment. Work may include variable schedules and occasional weekends.
